What is the best way to remove the scotch tape type adhesives in some grips found as opposed to the double-sided tapes normally used?
I have used a heat gun on low setting to to soften the adhesive. You will have to rub the tape and cause a little friction to peel off.
It doesn’t take much heat to soften. To clean the tacky shaft surface wipe down with solvent to completely clean up shaft.
Agree with TBrandt on the heat gun and the solvent but if when taking off the heated tape there is a lot of residue on the shaft, use the sticky part of the tape to remove most of it before you use the solvent.
Just stick a small part of the used tape on the residue and pull it off, repeating several times until the shaft is almost clean.
