I measured the lofts on a loft/lie gauge at each score line on a KE4 ST-2 10.5* driver and the STw 10.5* driver. I understand that each driver has vertical roll and the loft measurement will differ depending upon the area of the face the measurement was taken. On both drivers I measured a 1* loft difference from score line to score line. Is this by design, a coincidence or do I need to take more careful measurements? If by design, is this consistent with all Maltby drivers? Thank you in advance for the response.
Without seeing how your measuring it is difficult to understand how the difference occurred. Lofts are measured in the face center with the club in the square position. Ralph described it in the link below. Thee are tolerances, and usually on a drivers we are +-.5 degree. So if one was 11 and the other 10, both are within tolerance, but 1 degree different. Read Ralph’s description and maybe it will shed some light on how the measurement should be taken and the variations that can occur.
