Hi, have a customer who dropped off a Ram Accubar Low Profile 4i with broken shaft. Shaft is not broken flush to the hosel. I have attempted to remove the shaft with a butane torch and also a propane torch. No luck in either case. In both cases I have heated the hosel for more than 30 seconds and no indication of the epoxy softening/loosening.
When RAM manufactured these clubs did they use epoxy or some other method of joining the shaft and club head?
Is drilling the shaft out of the head the only method of removal?
The Ram Accubar Low profile was sold in 1979 and 1980. Definitely were using epoxy for assembly at that time. You might try a little more heat and if that does not work, you could try cutting the shaft off at the hosel and using a broken shaft extractor. We have a couple of options like the Fast Extract GW1106 or the 35P5 Shaft extractor set. If you ca not exract it with these, you will have to drill it out.
