Compared to the KE4-S, the KE4 tours I’m finding a bit harsh with a steel shaft.. The KE4 S does a great job with shock absorption with the badge back of the club. I’m wondering if a piece of adhesive rubber tape might help with absorption. A little unorthodox but I’m not using the club for competition.
Never heard of the KE4 Tour feeling harsh. In fact, have had players hit it and ask if it was a forged carbon steel head because it felt so soft. That being said, you never know what grip, head and shaft combination built to different specs will feel like for any given individual. Jim’s suggestion will definitely change the feel. We used to, in the olden days, put cork in the butt like Jim said, and also put rubber pieces in the tip when shafting. Both together, or even just doing one or the other will change the feel.
When I still played steel shafts in my irons I use to go to the hardware store and purchase #4 size Corks. I would epoxy the corks into the butt end of the shaft. You will be surprised as to how much vibration this will absorb.
