Hello All, I have a player that wants to make one of his less used putters in to a 46-48″ putter. Components are no problem (shaft-grip), but I ‘m concerned about bending the lie angle upright from 70 std to 80 which is needed for the long putter. I also have a problem with how I’m going to get the weight up to 500grams. Anyone have any experience with this type of modifications? the putter heads in questions are” taylormade spyder tour scotty GOLO 3
In looking at the Scotty GOLO 3, if I am looking at the right one, I do not believe it would be possible to bend as upright as you you need. The TM Spider Tour uses a double bend shaft and in theory a shaft could possibly be bent to 80 degree lie. Still, would not be easy. The only way to know if it can be done would be to try. As far as the weight, you are probably looking at needing to add 150 grams, which I do not believe could be done with existing methods of adding weight to just the heads. Best to find a model that was originally made heavier, like a model that was originally designed to be a belly or long putter.
