Driver shaft length

Gregor, shortening your driver 2” will never make it feel anywhere near the same regardless of any weight added to get back the swingweight. However, this does not mean that it may really work out for you. You simply need to try it. The main problems are as you have already guessed; the swingweight drops by 12 and the shaft will feel stiffer. It is really too much lead tape to put on (each swingweight is 2 grams and it takes 5” of lead tape for every 2 grams = 60” of lead tape), but it is doable and probably quite ugly. If you try it, put all the lead tape on the sole as evenly around the face center as possible. Some tape can go on the back if you cannot see it.

That is a whole lotta tape. Is that even doable?

2” shorter would be 12 points on the swingweight, which means 24 extra grams needed in the head to keep it at the same swingweight.

I’m interested here as well. My wife is a petite 5’1’’ and so far she’s preferred her 3-wood to the shortened shafts I’ve tried.

I want to shorten my driver as much as 2 inches and was wondering what is involved in keeping the swing weight and flex feeling the same.
