Hybrid to iron transition

Thanks Jonag That is the same way I was thinking. By different swing I mean you hit down with the hybrids just like the irons but with the driver/woods you “sweep” it more. I guess we are saying the same thing but in different ways.

By the way are you the same Jonag on the rotary swing website? I was surfing the other night and came across that website. I was reading some of the posts and I saw your name. Just wondering….

I would think that the 15 hybrid wil go slightly shorter than the 3W due to it being built shorter and is heavier. The 6 deg gap to 21 hybrid will give you more or less the same gaps from driver-15-21 and that is OK IMO. If you go for the 3W you will have a larger gap to the 21, but that is no big deal really. Type of swing, I use the same regardless, just setup differently. But the hybrid is more like an iron in its feel and the release could be the same throughout the set. Interesting thought. Accuracy best with hybrid.

    I need some advice.

All my clubs are replaced except for my 3 wood. My driver is the KE4 and my long irons are the KE4 hybrids (21 degree, 24 degree and 27 degree).

I was thinking of either going the KE4 3 wood or the KE4 15 degree hybrid. The reason why is because I am hitting my hybrids really well. As a matter of fact on some shorter holes I’m teeing of with the 21 degree.

Does anyone think I will lose distance? what about accuracy? I know that the hybrid will be shorter but sometimes a shorter length club will go farther because you can hit the sweet spot more often.

The other reason I was thinking of going with the hybrid is my swing will stay the same for all the clubs in my bag except for the driver and putter. Which I think is very important for someone who’s only been golfing for 3 years.

Anyone who would like to chime in and give me their opinion I would GREATLY appreciate it!!

So, I chose the following changes to my set..

Before: 3W Trouble out (13) 5W Trouble out (17) 20* Trouble out hybrid 25* Trouble out hybrid 31* 6i MMB

    Now: 3W Glider S (16) 20 Trouble out hybrid 25* Trouble out hybrid 27* 5i KE4 31* 6i MTF

Removed a wood to make room for an extra iron Nice progression of COG from approx 0.5” in the hybrids to 0.63” in the KE4 and 0.67” in the MTF. If I cannot hit the KE4 5iron I will change to a Glider S..

Thanks, I think I will try the KE4. My son of 9 plays them and they are nice heads.

jonag, the MTF would be good, but I would also try (consider) the KE4 5&6 iron.

Ralph I play the 20 and 25 trouble out hybrids and love the playability and trajectory. I have the MMB irons but the 5 iron has a little too low playability to match the hybrids to shorter irons confidence transition. I do think it is a COG/loft thing. I am looking at the MTF 5+6 iron. That would lower the COG a little and be a good transition. I have tried the 6 iron Glider S and it is great, but I hit down and through and the sole does not fit as nicely as the MMB sole. Any other iron suggestions for the 5 iron ?
