Go with the MTF irons. They’re outstanding in every way for the player who wants to maintain a traditional look. To me they setup just a little bit “cleaner” than the MCC.

no hating, just good advice :-) Lots of feedback from more difficult clubs make you learn to hit down. I play the MMB and they are nice both in feel and in playability

yea iv been looking at maltby irons for a long time ..just dont have the income at the moment to buy them. Iv been looking at the MTF true forged and MCC head because their a constant minimal offset through out the set. My next set of irons if most likely going to be the MTF or MCC and possibly toskie t-54
My next set will most likely be the MTF iron.
But why all the hating on the 69 spaldings lol. Their in very good condition and im sure they are in the negative scale on the MPF list but iv learned on these and 1980 Titleist tour model irons and they’ve made me a good ball striker.
I do agree with new clubs i would probably become more on the great side of ball striking . But thats why im here. To get informed more.
But my game doesnt suffer from the irons but in sure those mtfs will help me pinpoint a little more on my shots

I agree – I play the M45’s which were a combo muscle / cavity with high playability. They are as good as any other club I have ever hit. The new MPC is a nice looking head!

I would recommend that you read Ralphs MPF book and dig into what playability can do for you. Golfworks also have very nice clubs that are very classic looking. And I like the 3 bounce sole more and more.
I guess your clubs have lower bounce, sharper leading edge, less MOI, higher COG, shallower COG, a COG more to the heel.. All this will make you hit more fat shots, more offline shots, less accurate shots in distance, and more shanks.
That is what technology has done for golfers since 1969 ;-)
Why not invest in the Toski blades or Maltby MMB/MTF/MCC/MPC ? They are all forged and have classic looks and setup and are very playable for a decent golfer.

haha i wish…i’v shot a personal best for 9 of 37 with those irons. Iv only been playin for 2 1/2 years and i havent played much besides blades. Hit new irons just dont look right..too big looking for me.
I’m solid off the tee and approach shots.I average 250 (carry +roll) with my driver and straight.(gps/google eartch/ walked off confirmation-no guessing). Id drop 10 strokes Putted more effeciently. For me that will come over experience bc i dont get to practice on a real green everyday. But i can hit balls everyday in a open field.
They just set up perfect for me. Know what i mean. everyones got a club liek that.
Hey atleast their regripped lol

I am playing a set of 1969 Spalding Dan sikes personal model. They were bought by my step dad Brand new back then(im 22 so i obviously couldnt of bought them.
I’m Wondering on the grooves i have no info on the type of grooves or material the head it made out of. I have read how bad grooves can hurt your game and wondering if anyone knows the types of grooves they used on these.
And if these grooves need to be re grooved would it be worth it . also the leading edge is sharper than a knife so that would need to be rolled to.
Am i losing performance with these clubs the way they are now?
Heres a picture of a 7 iron. The close up of the grooves are the 2-4 grooves on the heel side
