CAN YOU ADJUST A SET OF CER IRONS TO 6 DEGREES BETWEEN CLUBS STARTING WITH THE PW AT 48 DEGREES? THANKS JOHN
You would have to be very careful bending the lofts weaker or stronger 2° as they are a cast head. I assume when you got the the 7 iron you would skip to the 6??
My question would be why? Four degree loft separations give you a nice yardage spread throughout your irons. Are you trying to simplify your iron choices while playing? I’m taking a guess but maybe you are having issues with iron distances. I would suggest keeping the 4 degrees but meticulously mapping your iron distances and sticking with those distances while in play.
John, there’s another factor to consider. Whenever you change loft, you also change bounce. So, for example, if you strengthen the loft of an iron by 6 degrees, you’re also reducing the bounce by the same, which would give you a negative bounce angle. Turf interaction would suffer greatly. Just another factor to think about (on top of whether you could even bend any iron, including forged, by 6 degrees.) If we know more about what you want to accomplish, perhaps we could make other suggestions. Hope this helps! Michael
