I’m a bit all over the place left/right dispersion wise with over-length graphite shaft big name OEM hybrids.

What I’m interested to potentially have GolfWorks build for me is:

KE ST-H hybrid at 20 degrees with lie angle bent 1 degree upright to 59.5 degrees shafted with True Temper Score LT shaft trimmed to firm and cut to 39″ playing length (standard steel 3 iron length) swing weighted to D1 and gripped with the standard Lamkin used in the paks.

Questions:

1) Is this build specification possible? Is there any downside I am ignoring? I am greatly enjoying my TE 4 iron with the same shaft @ standard length (38.5″). Based off my amateur understanding it would appear to match a TE 3 iron weight (240 g) the hybrid (234 g) would need a 12 g weight instead of the stock 6 g.

2) Could I substitute this is the Pak instead of the standard Maltby graphite shaft for the standard $64.99 price?

I just built a KE4 Tour TC with just that shaft. It was the 4 head which matches up well weight wise for a standard 4 iron head. I cut the Score shaft to a standard 4 iron Stiff. It worked extremely well. When doing the hybrids what works for me is matching iron head weights and building them as if they were that iron. With very good reaults. A few grams here or there never bothered me. But with the KE4 head you can adjust to your needs. I was never very swingweight sensitive.

If you call customer service they should be able to swap in a Score shaft for you. They are fairly flexible that way but I dont think the Pak will be my cheaper.

There is no real downside for what your proposing. Making the hybrid the length 39″ is good plan to try if your looking for this hybrid to give you the normal distance progression off of the 4 iron. Taking advantage of the easier to hit hybrid design is something more players should do. Most hybrids are made longer with lighter graphite shafts, making them longer than the long irons they are replacing, which can be good for some, but many times can create more of a distance gap between the longest iron in the set and the next club hybrid they build. With the 115 gram Score shaft you may not need 12 g, but it depends some on the grip your using. You will probably need to add some weight, but it may not be exactly 12 g. The one aspect of your build is the lie adjustment. We can not bend the ST-H hybrid 1 degree upright.

As far as substituting the Score shaft in a PAK, You can substitute. You would need to call in the order and let one of our staff help you place the order. You might actually come out better simply ordering the parts and paying for assembly since the Score shaft is less expensive than the graphite in the PAK.
