What would be the proper shaft at 46″,static weight, swing weight, shaft weight for more distance.
It could vary from individual to individual, but for distance, you want the lightest overall club weight you can control, and still maintain head feel throughout the swing. The overall weight is greatly influenced by the shaft weight, so going with a sub 50 gram weight shaft would be the way you would lower the overall weight of the club. Head weights of drivers are not going to vary more than 10 grams max, generally. You can further lower the overall weight by using lightweight grips, which can help maintain swingweight when using the ultra light shafts. So, if you find a shaft that is sub 50 grams, use a 25 gram grip (like the Tour 25 Golf Pride) and have a driver head weight that is standard, your swingweight will be D9-E1, but the overall weight of the club would be less than 10 oz. Put a regular weight grip on (50 grams), and the swingweight will go down to D4-D5, and the overall weight will go to just over 10 Oz. Either way, you have an extremely light overall weight golf club, built for distance. And, understand, that swingweight is not a real weight. It is a result of the weight of the three components and the length of the club. Does not matter what the swingweight number is, as long as the club at the given length provides you with the head feel you want.
