Shaft gurus (or Britt), could someone point me to a similar feel iron shaft that I don’t have to spend $44/shaft on? Thanks!
One that you might try is the Nippon N.S. Pro 1150GH. It has a variable wall thickness construction like the LZ, but it is deployed differently. Still, it is in the same relative weight category and is a mid trajectory shaft like the LZ. It might possibly feel softer based on the overall difference in material and profile, but maybe not. The profiles are very similar except that the LZ is stiffer in the tip end. That is the main reason I think it will feel a little softer. $24.50 ea on the Nippon.

Hard stepping will make the overall flex play approximately 1/3 flex stiffer, assuming 7 gram increments in head weight and assuming only hard stepping by by one club (6 iron shaft in 5 iron, etc.). I couldn’t say that the stiffer feel will be felt in the tip. as far as the Modus 120, really good shaft. All the Nippon steel shafts are really good, in my opinion. The profile is very similar to the 1150GH, except the tip. The tip is stiffer on the Modus 120 than the 1150GH.

I’ll give it a look, I guess a hard step would stiffen the tip section and be a bit closer? – any thoughts on Modus 120S?
