I’ve been reading about the Tour Lock system for adding weight to a putter by putting it down the shaft. Is this a good idea? What would be
as good weight to start with for the experiment? I’m thinking about the 100 gram weight…..
There are several versions of the Tour Lock System, all designed to “fine tune” the feel of your clubs. They can be used in all clubs. In a putter, they are used primarily for counter balancing. The amount of weight totally depends on what the head weight of the putter is and what feels best for you. If the head weight is light and you put too much counter weight in, you will loose head feel. 100 grams is a lot and in my experience would require a putter head weight of 400 grams or more for you to maintain some level of head feel. Again, it really falls on what feels best for you when putting. If you have a standard length, standard type putter, 100 grams might be a little too much to start with. Without knowing the exact putter you have it is difficult for me to give guidance on what weight you might want to try.
