Iron head weights, generally, have not changed that much. Probably more variation today from manufacturers than back then. Longer playing lengths and lighter shafts have lead some manufacturers to produce slightly lighter head weights in some instances, and slightly heavier head weights in others, depending on those length and shaft weight (and grip weight) parameters of any given club. Again, generally speaking, the standard or base head weight for a 5 iron (for example) has been around 254 grams with 7 gram increments moving through the set. That is still the base we still work off of for “standard head weights”. If I get a chance I will check some 60’s era head weights and post what I find.
