I’ve noticed that some of the companies who were typically good about keeping the AVCOG lower than the center of the ball, have released quite a few designs recently that are higher.  Ping and Mizuno for example.

Is there any ideas or theories on why they would allow this to happen?  Is it maybe because of the thin springy face designs that many of them are using?  If an iron face is thin enough to increase ballspeed, does that change how the AVCOG location will perform?
