I feel like I’ve seen this discussed before but couldn’t find where. But I have come across a few Pings with X100U shafts. I doubt Ping is reaming their hands at the factory. Are they crimping those .370 shafts in some fancy way or jamming them in there? I’m sitting here with a Ping Gorge Eye 2 Lob wedge with an X100U and it does feel heavier like it’s the full 130gr X100 but the shaft band indicates it’s X100U so theoretically it should be tipped heavily and way lighter.
Just curious what they’re up to. I thought about putting a torch to it and pull it but something tells me I’d have to put 9000 degrees on it for 10 minutes and have a diesel powered press to get it out. That’s typically how I’ve seen Pings dealt with. Not sure what kind of epoxy they’ve been using.
