I’m looking to bridge the gap between my 15deg 3 wood (240+/-10 yds) and my 22 deg TS3 4i (205 +/5 yds) at about 220 yards. I’m split between the 3U and the 2U TS-UI. I’m not sure I’ll get that much extra distance from the 20 deg 3U but the 18 deg 2U feels a bit daunting, though I don’t tend to have any issue hitting long irons high. Do you have any recommendation between the two?
First, the TS-UI’s are very playable. I have played the #4 all year and the #3 at times and they are fantastic. Generally speaking, it’s 2.5-3 yards approximately per degree of loft. So the #3 would probably get you to maybe 210 – 212 yards. the #2 maybe 215 -217. Of course you might get a few more than that depending on the build of the club, your impact position, etc. I would not be intimidated by the “#2” on the sole. These do not look or play like 2 irons of the past.
Can’t tell you exactly which might work the best for the distance your looking for, but hopefully this gives you a little guidance.
