I am building a set of TE+ irons in pearl chrome and in the process of turning down a ferrule I have made the top of the hosel shiny from rubbing the very top with sandpaper. What is the best way to restore the pearl chrome finish? I have seen red scotchbrite suggested, but wanted to get your thoughts before I screw it up any more.
Sandpaper can do that. That is why if using sandpaper, the hosel should be taped or wrapped with lead tape or some kind of heavy duty protective tape. Linen or felt ferrule belts are recommended and should not cause any finish damage. Unfortunately, I don’t think you will be able to restore the Pearl finish to the way it was. Using a scotchbrite bar or wheel might take some of the shiny out of it, but won’t restore the pearl finish.

Vagus. I don’t have a belt sander. I wrap the hosel with clear thick hockey tape from any hardware store. Very handy stuff.
