Have y’all ever considered making a set of hybrid irons, like the Cleveland halo or Cobra baffler, several other brands. What do you think the pros and cons are of those irons, are they really more forgiving and easier to hit. I demoed a set and I didn’t hit them any easier than my irons, could’ve been other factors also, I was fit for my irons. Anyway, I’m 64 and may be in the market for a new set after this golf season, all the adds say more distance and easier to hit. I was thinking about trying one of your irons. Appreciate the feed back.

I would say we were one of the pioneers of sets like you describe. I could go back and name many models we did, like Logic Tech, RDM, MXO, AST, RDM Recoil and on and on. That’s just 2001 thru 2006. That type of iron sold pretty well in the market at that time, but markets change. We kind of got away from making the xtreme designs that included the complete hybrid set. We progressed to being able to produce extremely high playability without having to produce those types of sets. Nothing wrong with those types, and we have discussed possibly producing another one. We will see. One thig I will add, it doesn’t matter if a set is called a “hybrid” set or not, doesn’t matter if all the irons are hollow, or have wide soles, etc. What always matters in any design are the mass an dimensional characteristics. If the features in a design produce a low center of gravity and a stable head, then the design should be highly playable, whether it’s categorized as a “hybrid” set or not.

Our Max iron is the most playable iron we have and plays like one of those designed “hybrid” sets we used to make. M980 set is incredibly forgiving and also is in the Ultra Game Improvement Category.

I would encourage you to try a #7 iron in a model your considering to see if works. That way you not invested in the entire set if it does not end up being what your looking for.

Thanks for the response. The shaft in my current irons are recoil 760 regular flex. They seem to work pretty well for me, what’s something you would recommend shaft wise when I try one of your irons.
