I don’t have any specs on the Tensei AV R AM2 graphite shafts, but my guess is that they are pretty similar to the Tensei AV Series Silver irons we have (MR0125). Problem is that iron takes a taper tip .355 shaft. The Tensei AV Series Silver shafts are parallel tip .370. Maltby MPF Pro Series+ shafts are also .370. So neither will work in that iron. Need to look at .355 options. Aerotech, Recoil Dart and KBS Max, PGI or TGI all have .355 options. AI tells me some of the detail on the AM2 shaft are:
R-Flex (Regular):
- Weights range from 57g (39.5″) up to 65g (36.5″) (often noted around 60g–68g installed set weight parameters)
- Butt OD: 0.590″
- Torque: 4.5° down to 3.0°
- Kick Point: Mid/Low
So you might look for .355 options that are close to these basic specs.
As far as buying TS3’s and making them stronger, the lofts of the T350’s are the same as the TS3.5’s, up until the PW. they go weaker in the shorter irons. If you stay with the TS3’s, they do have weaker lofts and you could make them stronger a little, but remember for every degree you de-loft, you reduce he sole angle (bounce) by the same amount. Not sure I would want to make them two degrees stronger and reduce the sole angle that much. So might look at the TS3.5’s if the loft is the key spec you want to keep as is.
