I’m looking to add an easy to elevate 5 iron option to my ts3 set. I’m considering the KE4 max and the soon to be released Max F. My question is which is a smoother transition from a ts3 6 iron and would it be best to bend a 5 iron weak to 25 degrees or to bend a 6 iron strong? I assume it would be best to match the lofts even with the difference in weighting and construction, correct?
Have you considered a 9 wood? I have one on the way as we speak. I tried an old Cleveland model and it was so easy to hit it in the 185 range. I ordered the Maltby to play around with and if it works out, I might sideline my 4i and 5i for a while.
I should have the pak to assemble later this week if it all works out. I’ll run down to the Trackman facility and get some numbers vs my Maxfli XC2 4i and 5i and post them.
Thanks! I loved the XC2, but the spin numbers were low with the stock shaft and I couldn’t beat the deal I got on the TS3. So far I’m playing the best golf I’ve played in years with them…
I admittedly don’t get a lot of forward lean at impact so I was hitting the TS3 a little high and spinny. The landing angle and ability to stop were amazing but I know I was leaving a few yards out there. I can across a like new demo set of XC2 for the price of a set of TS3 and couldn’t pass it up. I’ll probably do some more in depth comparison of those two as well to expand on my Reddit comparison. Both look and feel amazing though.
I have not. I currently have a 5 hybrid in the bag and while I like the ball flight, I fight the lefts with wit and I miss the versatility of an iron. I don’t struggle with a 5 iron per se, I just want something stupid easy to hit. Honestly a 5 TS3 might work fine, but my set I purchased used didn’t come with one and they are currently back-ordered. The KE4-F has me intrigued, as does the TS3.5 if I can match up the lofts for appropriate gapping.
