- This is my current set, JPX HMP w/LZ 5.5 shafts 1/2” over. Going to cut them to standard lengths and could adjust length and/or add tip weight if it is worth it. I like the 7, 8 is OK, don’t like the 9 at all. Thanks for any suggestions!

Can’t really tell what the length progressions are, but generally if they are 1/2 increments and the 8 and 9 are more flexible, you either have to trim a little more from the tip on those to firm them up or lighten the head weight. Even if the length progressions are less than 1/2″, you have to firm up shaft by the same way to get them more in line. Lightening the head weights is probably not an option. Also assuming that the head weights have progressed by 7 grams from the 7 to the 8 to the 9.
If the 8 is OK, then minor adjustment on the tip trim should get the 9 more in line.

Thank you Britt, that helps a lot. They are 1/2” increments. I have not tip trimmed a 355 shaft before but I’m willing give it a try. It was a pleasure meeting you at the GolfWorks Academy quite a few years ago when I attended the 2-day class.
Looks the the title didn’t post – my question, is it worth trying to get a better frequency progression for the 8 & 9?
