I’d like to built a set for myself, and thanks to Maltby for producing a weighted forged iron, very impressive. I think both of these heads perform well. Other than the loft differences between the two, and the adjustability of the Max forged my question is performance and feel.
I’ve keys been a stickler for feel. I’m a senior now and play the older TS-2 well. I notice the Max as well has a thinner sole. Thx all.
Difficult to say if one would feel better for you than the other. My opinion is that they both feel great. The fact that they are both forged carbon steel really has nothing to do with the feel, as many people think. They are both extremely stable and solid and that translates into the solid feel and sound you get with both. The sole widths are slightly narrower on the KE4 Forged, but not much. The biggest difference are the lofts, with the KE4 Forged being stronger.
I say this all the time, but I really don’t think you can make a bad choice. Might be worth the investment to build a #7 iron of each to compare before investing in the entire set. The cost would be only for the one extra club. Would be the best way to know for sure.

Thanks Britt. That’s what I was thinking. Build a 7 in the 3.5, and a 6 in the Max Forged.
