Club Champion did a custom fitting for me around the time of an intensive improvement in my game coupled with a bunch of lessons. So maybe it was the lessons BUT nevertheless I got some specs that worked but not the feel I seek so I want to try to replicate the build in TS3 since they took all my money. SO the build was Honma TW757 P (very heavy head from what I can tell though they only public built specs with a light shaft), pured KBS C-Taper 120 stiff, CP2Pro Midsize with 3 wraps of tape on the lower half of grip, 2 degrees upright, @ supposedly D7.5. Now that is a very high swingweight. I am told they use some kind of fitting adapter during sessions that they may have to adjust for when they build but nevertheless D7.5 is what the trackman report I got from them said. I dropped from a 15 to a 7.1 index with those clubs. However, I developed wrist and elbow pain possibly from the stepless c-taper shafts and I found the cast Honma’s with those shafts to mostly not feel great though man did they fly high and straight. The second best shaft was KBS $-Taper and that or KBS Tour is what I’d l like to move to. As TS3 will be higher spin as is I am thinking $-Taper is the safe move. Anyway, I am wondering if Golfworks can help me out on the swingweight mystery?

All I will say about your fitting is that D7.5 is the result of how they do their fitting clubs (with the fitting adaptor they use) and is not something we would do or agree with. That being said, if you want a D7.5, we can probably get there, but would have to add tip weighting to the build. Depending on the length of the clubs as to how much. The oversize grips will cause us to have to add more as well. If the clubs are overlength, that would help get to the D7.5.

As far as which iron head from us, not sure why you think a TS3 would be more “spinny”. If the lofts are comparable, should not be a problem, or at least has never been for the many, many players we have fit into them. TS1-IM is a distance iron that is injected, but have not heard anyone complain about the feel, but everyone is different. Can’t really compare the TS1-IM to a Wilson XB, or at least we haven’t, so really can’t know. TS3 is our best seller and have had nothing but positive feedback from all types of players on its performance.

Once you decide the build you want, put in the specs and we will let you know if we have any questions. I do question the D7.5 and wonder if that is a contributor to your wrist and elbow issues as well. High and straight is good, but if the feel is not great and the clubs are hard to swing, might want to look at a lighter overall weight, swing weight (more reasonable range), and more forgiving shaft. C taper is really stiff. $-Taper or $-Taper Light if your considering KBS would probably be better. The Tour is a solid choice, but is not going to save you any weight. The new shafts they have are the Tour VX Light and the Tour VX. Might consider those as well.

A lot to consider, and we will build what ever you decide, but we can not validate the fitting you got at CC. If you feel it was right and you’re comfortable with the specs, we will build one of our models to the specs you want.

I realized that the build was CP2 Pro STANDARD actually but with 3 extra wraps of tape on the lower hand. When I entered these specs into GPT 6 with the 120g shaft and +1/2″ length and now lighter standard grip it actually had a pretty high swingweight organically. Maybe would be 4 grams in tip or so. I would love it if Golfworks/Maltby could dry fit the build and check swingweight and let me know where it sits given head variability and go from there. Is there also the opportunity to add the soft inserts others mention?
