I have a Mitsubishi C6 Blue 60 R flex shaft in my Maltby 7 wood. I cannot consistently make solid contact with this head / shaft combo.
I have topped, pulled, and pushed shots within every round.
It was suggested to use heavier gram shaft, in the 70g range. I have the same shafts in my Ping 3 wood and 5 woods that I hit consistently.
Any suggestions on a better shaft match?
Those lengths are longer than our “standard length” for #5 and #7 woods with shafts under 70 grams. I know there are always variances in how people measure, but the way we measure, the standard #5 wood with a graphite shaft under 70 grams would be 42.5″. #7 wood would be 42″. Just list these for reference. Not that much difference in what you have, but they are longer than our standard measurement, assuming you are measuring the same way we do. We measure down the back of the club with the club in the playing position, which is the traditional way. We do cut the shaft to the number. We do not cut the shaft short to allow for the grip cap. So if you measure the the edge of the grip cap by our method, you will get slightly over the standard number.

I was originally fitter just a little over standard years ago.
I measure using the same method as you. However, I do allow 1/8 inch short for the end cap.
I’m strongly considering the Maltby shaft. I already have the TS3.5 irons with the Maltby iron shafts.
