Hey Britt,
I’m hoping to change shafts in my current irons. I currently game PXG gen5 0311 P 5-gw. I’m planning on buying Nippon Modus3 Pro’s in X flex from golf works.
I have 3 questions :
- Since the Nippon shafts only go to “Wedge” Would I use two wedge shafts for my PW and Gap? Would I trim the gap shorter? or leave it the same length as my PW? If I cut it shorter how would that affect the flex?
- Since the Modus comes in 0.355 and 0.370 is there a reason to use either specifically? My understanding is PXG clubs can accept both shafts but Nippon uses constant weight 0.370, so would that be the better route?
- Do you have any suggestions for what I would need to do to get my swing weight to d2? Is there anyway you could help me understand how to do that? I’m planning on 0311p heads, Modus pro 120x, Golf pride MCC +4 midsize grips.
Hey Britt, Thanks so much for your response.
I’m having trouble with the head weights as they are currently my gamers and have shafts still in.
At the moment my 7i is standard 37″ with accra i80 S flex shaft, the PXG head ordered +2 swing weights from factory, and a MCC +4 midsize grip. Yesterday tested at C8.5 at a fitting (unfortunately I don’t have access to that scale to swing weight the rest of my clubs)
I’m planning on going +0.5″ from standard in the set overall (38.75 5i, 37.5 7i). Using PXG’s standard cadance of 5/8″ steps to the 5 and 6i and then .5″ to the 8 and 9, then .25 to the P and G. (I struggle with the short length of my pw and gap)
I apologize for not including it in my initial message but my planned set is :
PXG 0311 Gen5 P 5-GW +2 weighted heads (so I assume +4g?)
Nippon Modus3 Pro Tour 120 X
Golf Pride MCC +4 Midsize. Unfortunately tour velvet midsize +4s are basically the same weight so no real way to cut weight there.
I really appreciate your help with this. Without the discrete head weights am I at an impasse?
