Good question. I always prefer making the length whatever fits the player. We added the 1/2 inch to graphite because there is so many lightweight graphite iron shafts and if players want to maintain a swing weight the 1/2″ is needed. We do not have the luxury of having heads weighted specifically for graphite.
If you are using a 110 Steelfiber shaft, you can definitely go with the steel standard length if that is the length that fits you. I would still dry fit the components to check to see what the swing weight will be since balance points could be different when comparing one 110 gram shaft to another, especially when they are different materials.
