7i swing speed 179mph, ball speed 107 using TE heads and TT S/L shafts. Looking to add distance and accuracy on 6,7,8,9 irons. What do you think about TS-1 heads with DG S300 shafts? I also have older Titleist (690 CB) and Cobra AMP forged) heads with DG S300 irons that I hit about the same as with the TT L/S shafts in the TE’s, just slightly less on head and ball speed (lofts are probably 3/5 degrees weaker. Any recommendations on head/shaft combinations would be appreciated. Accuracy is primary, workability then distance. Thanks

Assuming you meant club head speed 107, not 179. 107 is really high for #7 iron. 179 I’m sure is the ball speed. You will add distance with the TS1 irons over the TE’s just because of the loft difference. Dynamic Gold S300, or S400 or X100 based on a 107 MPH #7 iron club head speed. S300 is fine but you do have enough speed to play an S400 or X100. That being said, some players prefer S300 or S400 that can play an X because they like the feel better. Dynamic Gold is still a great shaft that a lot of high speed players play because it helps them keep the ball down. Workability (left to right / right to left) comes from the player, not the equipment. I play the TS1’s with an S-Taper shaft from KBS and have no problem working the ball, but again, the reason is not the head/shaft combination. You should not have any difficulty working the TS1 with a Dynamic Gold product, with the proper technique.

Thank You for your comments Britt, guess I’m getting old as I did not proofread my question. Clubhead speed should have been 79 for the 7 iron. I am currently playing to a 10 handicap and can work the TE, just wondering if the DG s300 with the TS-1 was an option to gain some distance, maintain control for accuracy and still be able to work the ball. As I said, I have some other clubs with DG S300 shafts and do not seem to lose any clubhead speed with them but the heads are older technology and much weaker lofts. Thanks
You should hit the TS1 longer just because of the stronger lofts. If you have had success with the DGS300 then no reason to assume you would not like it with the TS1. That being said, because the lofts are stronger in the TS1 and the DGS300 shaft is a low trajectory shaft, be prepared for your trajectory to be lower. If you don’t want that, you might want to try a mid trajectory shaft with the TS1. Maybe even a slightly lighter weight as well. Maybe the Nippon Pro Modus Tour 105 or 120. The lighter weight might help with the distance as well.
