I have played TE Forged for years. Love them. I’ve got 4-8 in the TS3 and 9 and PW in TS4. Standard lofts/lies and DG 120 S300 (.355; +0.5″) throughout. The TS3 sole performs very similar to the TE Forged for me but I’m having a little issue with “forgiveness” in turf interaction on the TS4’s (digs slightly). I’ve thought about picking up TS3’s in 9 and PW and having the lofts bumped 1* and 2* respectively to fit a 50/56/60* wedge setup. My 6 irons is 90mph+ and driver is ~120mph so I’m concerned weakening the lofts will raise my ball flight too much (which I’ve struggled for years to keep at 115-120′ for the 6 iron).

Based on the design of the TS3, is this something that would not be recommended or how would it compare with the TE Forge with same shaft, ball, swing, etc? I’ve also considered having the TS4 9 and PW weakened about 0.5-1* each to get some more bounce, would that be noticeable to get a little more turf forgiveness?

The designed bounce angle of the TS3 and TS4 9 and PW are the same, 4 deg. on the 9 and 5 deg. on the PW. The original TE was the same as well. The TS3 and the original TE forged do have a slightly wider sole dimension than the TS4. You could weaken the TS4 by a degree to increase the bounce, but most likely it would alter the trajectory a little. Why not just use the TS3 9 and PW? The slightly wider sole might be the difference. It certainly is not just the bounce angle since they are the same. You could weaken the TS3 9 and PW loft if you feel you need to, but I might hit them first, before weakening. I understand why you would want to to fit the wedge set up, but they may work fine without bending them. If you feel they are that 1 or 2 deg. too strong from a gapping standpoint, you could always bend them after testing.

They are basically the same. I measured two #6 irons and they were within .020-.025 of one another (20/1000-25/1000). I would call that pretty much the same. They can vary a little with bore depth tolerances, but I would not expect a noticeable variance.
