When measuring  the loft on a hybrid head specifically – (or any club for that matter) whats the reference point.  By that i mean are we measuring the loft with the shaft exactly vertical,  or with the sole resting on the ground

and a 2nd question, is,  should the shaft be vertical when the sole is resting on the ground?

I do realise that the hybrid loft can be measured in the particular lie/loft machine, but nobody has one in my city and am fairly sure there is none in the country!    I do have a Golfworks loft protractor though.

(obviously i dont mean vertical in both planes,  the head should be on the ground at normal lie angle of around 60deg)
