I am 80, and a ballooning handicap now at 24. I currently own a set of STi2 irons 6-GW with the TT Elevate 115 regular steel shaft. I did not find the feel of steel objectionable after playing a graphite regular shaft for many years.  Recently, with an iron swing speed around 68, I thought “senior” made sense. I ordered and tested a STi2 5 iron with a Maxflex senior flex shaft and could not get comfortable with it… maybe a little too light, and felt more “chattery” than I liked.

Now I am considering reshafting these STi2s I own (5-GW) with your Score LT shafts. They would be a little lighter, and give me the stability I was missing in the Maxflex. I would soft tip them to play a senior flex exactly following online instructions. I’d remove and reinstall the grips which are new. I think the Score shafts are a little lighter that the 115s I now have and I could probably use the whip in a senior-like flex.

That is what I’m thinking, but I would like you to weigh in on if it makes sense to you. Will the new steel shaft soft trimmed make a significant enough difference for this to be worth doing?
