I built a test club with the TS-3 paired with the Steelfiber 70CW A flex. Likely will be building out a set later this year. I’ve seen articles in the past suggesting the use of the 8-iron shaft in the next stronger flex, R flex in this case, to attain lower launch and higher spinning wedges. Do you agree with this and will it work with the Steelfiber?
Wedge heads are heavier so when you put in a #8 iron shaft, designed for an #8 iron head weight, the shaft will play more flexible in the wedge. If you go to the next stronger flex, you mitigate that some, but every shaft is different as to how much and how it will affect the launch and spin. I (we) have not tested this with the Steelfiber, or really any shafts to see what the spin and launch are.
I have been told that some shaft companies “wedge” shafts are just 8 iron profiles they have re-packaged as a wedge specific shafts.
