New some new wedges and have decided on the Maltby DRT wedges. I have also decided to ditch the 60d wedge as it has always been a liability in my bag. I am a high handicapper with a shallow swing (sweeper) and I do not get along with clubs that have wide soles and high bounce. My current PW is 47d and I am thinking of going with a non-traditional 3 wedge setup

DRT 52/6 S grind gap wedge

DRT 58/8 S grind lob wedge bent down to 56/6

And for my dedicated sand wedge a 56/12 S grind.

Is this setup crazy?

You might consider leaving the 58 alone and see how you get along with it before bending it, which will alter the offset. Just some thoughts. I’m also in the process of building some DRTs, but only need a 54 and 60. I chose the S grind for both, but I have a 54 A as backup if the 54 S doesn’t work out for me. I feel your situation.

Any wedge set up that works is fine. If you feel the two at 56 with the different bounces is something you want to try, that is fine, but I do agree with SEN that bending the 58 down to 56 will slightly change the amount of offset, along with reducing the bounce. May not be enough to matter to you. I might go along with trying the 58/8 without bending first to see if it works with what you need as far as distance and trajectory, but again, bending it is fine. S grind would appear to be the right choice based on your shallow attack angle. Having two 56’s, one for sand one for the other shots around the green is fine if that is what works for you.
