Unless someone else has some kind of magic,  when you heat up the hosel, you will probably melt or deform the ferrule. They have heatshield, but don't think that will be practical to protect the ferrule....

I read this question with interest. I do it the same way , except when I flo the shaft, I do it top to bottom. I do mark it at the 12:00 position and then rotate the shaft 90 degrees when installing. ...
