Getting my dad a set of clubs for his birthday. Leaning toward the 5 and 7 wood Maltby KE4 TC Pro IST club pak. Deciding on shaft options. His average driver SS is 84 mph, his average 7 iron is 72 mph. He is unlikely to get any stronger from here as he has health issues, so keep that in mind. What shaft profile and flex would you suggest for him? Not sure if he is Senior or R flex. His tempo is average. Thanks.
84 mph driver speed indicates an R flex, but if you believe that he will be slowing, and since he has an average tempo, I would have no problem recommending an A flex. Should feel better and provide some trajectory help as well. I think either the MPF Pro Series + in the A flex or the Maxflex in the A flex. Either would be worth a try. They are very similar with the MPF being very slightly firmer in the overall profile. So, since he does actually fall in the R flex category, maybe the A flex MPF would be the first choice since it is a slightly firmer A flex vs the Maxflex.
I think he will like the TC Pro IST fairways. We get a lot of great feedback on them.
