Wedges are different animals than sets, so can’t really draw a comparison as to why you like the wedges but not so much the irons. Just based on the design and specs of a wedge most people should hit them better or find things about them that make it easier for them to perform. Loft is higher and club length is shorter are the two main ones. That being said, we all have our favorites. I prefer the DRT 48 to the GW in the TS4 set. Not sure why, but just do.
Materials are different when comparing the max milled wedges and the TS4 irons, but that is not something that could cause you to like one over the other. They are different categories of clubs and it sounds like the wedges are working and the irons are not. So, might need to look to another iron design or make sure the specs in the irons are fit right for you. The TS4 irons are great irons, but not all designs work for everyone.
I will say you got me thinking about possibly coming up with a new design. Maybe Max Milled irons are something to consider for the future. We will see.
