My AI Skoke irons are graphite and 1/2 inch over standard length and swing weighted at C- 9. I also use a midsize grip which necessitates the use of tape to achieve the specified sw. My question is simple. If I were to butt trim 1/2 inch off the shafts, how will it affect the flex and the swingwieght.
The general rule of thumb is about 3 sw points per 1/2” but might be slightly different depending oh which shaft you have
The shafts are Project X Cypher Black 2.0 50. Will the swing weight + 3 or -3?
Shortening will always subtract. Bring a 50 series shaft it might be a little less than 3 full point, more like -2.5
If you cut 1/2 inch off the butt end and do nothing to the head weight, the shafts flex does not change. It may feel different, but the actual flex does not change. If you add head weight back to the head to bring the swing weight back up, then the shaft would actually play a little softer, not stiffer.

not only will they be slightly less of a SW … they will be slightly stiffer, and your distance MAY reduce by like 2 yards. 1/2” physically isn’t a lot, why not just grip slightly lower.
