I would like to try a 90gr iron shaft. Considering soft stepping a stiff shaft 3 times to get it to play like a regular flex. Will this effect performance of the shaft. Would like to try this with a MMT shaft. Please advise.

It will definitely make it play softer. That shafts trim code for the .370″ tip shaft we carry is IR37, which means you trim nothing from a #3 and start with 1/2″ from the 4. 3 times soft stepping would mean you would trim nothing from the 3,4,5,6 and start with the #7. That means the 4,5,6 will play progressively more flexible because of the head weight differences and the trim won’t start to offset that progression until the #7. So, you might want to think again about the 3 times soft step. I would look at other 90 shafts that offer an R flex. I know there are not that many, but SteelFiber is one, and Recoil Dart 90 is another.
