I have never really concerned myself with the swing weight number when fitting someone. That being said, most people that have some knowledge about it always expect it to be a range, like C8 to D3. All that really matters is if, after the club(s) are built to your specs that they provide the feel that the player likes. Specifically, head feel. You want to be able to feel the head through out the swing. For your build, I can’t tell you if that is C8 or D0 or D2. My guess is if you targeted C9-D1 it would be fine. As a senior, most are looking for lighter overall weight, which can translate into lighter swing weights, but doesn’t have to and the two really are separate specs to consider. Your goal is to have a club that has a total weight that is easy to swing and might help you generate speed, while providing the head feel that you need. That could be C8, or it could be D2. You will have to determine that. If I were fitting you and this was something you wanted to nail down, I would start with a lighter swing weight, evaluate the impact on the face, discuss with you how it feels, and add a little weight if needed until we accomplished the best impact pattern, a good ball flight, and a feel that you liked. It can be a process.
Now, after all that, you may not be that concerned about it, but want a consistent swing weight through out the set when you build it. Back to what I said, just target the C9-D1 and that should be in a range that works.
