I am currently testing the TS3 five iron before making a decision to change all my irons. I would like to gain more distance, while maintaining my mid ball flight.
First of all, I love the TS3 head. I’m testing the head with a Fujikura Vista Pro 60i, R flex shaft. In testing, my carry distance is about 2 1\2 yards less than my current 5 iron (Cobra F9 Speed zone \ Steelfiber FC70, R Flex)
I was thinking about making another TS3 five iron and using a Maltby Pro Series+ R flex Iron shaft. Then test all three 5 irons.
Now I have a new thought. The lofts on TS3.5 are closer to the lofts on my current irons, except for the PW. This leaves me with three (3) questions using the Fujikura or Maltby shaft with the TS3.5 head:
1) Will I gain more distance verses my current irons or the TS3?
2) Can I skip the TS3.5 41° PW and use the 45° AW in its place? (Currently I carry a 48°, 52°, and 58° wedges).
3) The MPF for the TS3 is 849, the MPF for the TS3.5 is 816. Is this difference notable?
Looking forward to your response.
