I wonder which maltby clubs would play similar
control, feel …
I love the relatively thin topline and bladelength,
but dont mind a little weaker lofts.
I have some mizuno pro 223 as well, but prefer
my mcc forged irons
Head weights on the TE+ are spec’d 2 grams lighter (5 iron 252 grams vs 254 for the MCC). Mainly because the standard lengths for a 5 iron now are 38″ and back then it was 37.75″. Swing weight is not just determined by the head weight. It is determined by the weight of each component and the length of the club. So, depends on what shaft and grip you use (as well as the head) and how long you make the club.

The MCC was a good model. Classic Players cavity with high playability. I know there are quite a few still in play even after 17 years. I would say in the current line our TE+ would be the most similar, only better. The lofts are stronger in the TE+, more to the modern standards. The TE+ #6 iron is 28 degrees and the MCC #6 iron is 31 degrees. We improved the heel area on the TE+ vs the MCC (not as chunky looking), in my opinion, and improved the horizontal cg location (making it more stable) which is why the TE+ ranks higher in the MPF ratings. Both are considered Super Game Improvement irons, but the TE+ is slightly higher rated. The TE+ also has our Multi-Groove face, which all of irons do now. Another model that does have a progressive cavity design like the MCC did and is considered a players cavity is the TS3. It is forged as well, but may have a little different profile than the MCC or TE+.
If the strong lofts aren’t a deal breaker, the TE+ may be the ones to look at.
