I have a older Maltby Golf Club Machine that I have adjusted lofts and lies on for many years. I recently bought a set of Callaway Mavrik irons that I wanted to weaken the lofts slightly. When I tried to fit the club head into the holding fixture it would not clamp properly. Can anyone tell me if they have had this problem and is there a way to modify the fixture to properly accept the Mavrik?
Thank you in advance
Thank you for responding. There is no model number on this machine’s name plate. I do think it is about a70’s version. I bought it used in the early 2000’s from an elderly man. The problem I am having with it is that when a club is “securely clamped” and an attempt is made to increase loft with the bending bar the sole of the club tend to shift in the base. This action does not allow me to make the adjustment. Maybe the wide topline of the iron is not allowing proper clamping force. I don’t know. These irons feel very difficult to bend.
There is another accessory with the machine that I have tried to help the situation. It is a think plate that I think should attach piggyback style onto the baseplate. It has two diagonally mounted thumb screws that can apply clamping force to the back side of the iron when it is nested into the base. I attached this accessory and used it when attempting to bend my irons. But it still allowed the sole of the club to shift during bending. Stumped!!
