Hello all

I am new to golf and want to get some newer irons. I currently have a set of Callaway XR Pros, +.5” (I’m a little over 6’3”). I decided to go get fitted, and between the GI irons from 5 brands (Mizuno, Callaway, Cobra, Ping, Taylormade), I ended up doing best with the Ping G440. A close second were the Mizuno 925HMs. The Callaways felt too “heavy” and the Cobras felt too “light.” I honestly don’t remember how the TMs felt. Shaft-wise, we settled on DG 115 mid, +1”. He wrote down 2* up on my sheet, but I don’t believe that we actually tested that though. Anyway, all that to say, I can’t really justify spending 1000-1300 on new irons anytime soon  I’ve been intrigued by Maltby for some time, partially for the price, partially because I like to be different, and another part that most of the irons just look so good. I was hoping that someone here would be able to guide to what head might be most like what I felt in either the Ping or the Mizunos. And not to be too vain, I like the looks of all the heads except the first gen sti2 and KE4 S.

Thanks in advance
Matt

Question is why do you want new irons? Your Callaway irons are a very forgiving iron. New is not always better, but if you want a quality new set that’s reasonable find a club fitter that uses Maltby components. Good luck.

I’m a big fan of the KE4 max

Fair question. I think I was fine until I felt better hitting those newer clubs. And if it’s more that the shaft was a better fit for me, if I’m going to pay for new shafts that fit me better, I’d want all new.
