Britt,
I’ve tried a few different driver shafts, but have found the ProLite 35 to give me the best smash factor and dispersion. Are there any newer shafts of similar profiles that I should consider trying that might perform better? Thanks, Michael
The ProLite 35 was the first UltraLight sub 70 gram shafts that could stand up and perform for higher clubhead speeds. I was fortunate enough, years ago, to be involved in some of the original testing of that product. It’s design has stood the test of time and is still one of the stiffest tip 60 gram shafts on the market. Interestingly, Robin Arthur, who designed the original Prolite 35, also designs the Xcaliber shafts and the SWD50 model in that line was designed to be similar in tip stiffness to the ProLite 35, but in a 50 gram weight. Players with higher clubhead speeds that thought they could never play a 50 gram shaft have hit the SWD50 with great results. It is one of the only shafts at that weight that produces a lower trajectory, while increasing clubhead speed.
