Is it possible to install the BiMatrix shafts into a Hybrid? I understand the length would be the catch here, as we would be taking an average of 5-6 inches off the shaft. Too much from the butt and you affect GRIP size and stiffness, too much from the tip you affect launch and Kickpoint. With that said, i’m wondering if I where to try this what would be the recommended not to exceed cuts for both the Butt and Tip. Could I take equal lengths off the butt and tip, or should I take more off from one end or the other. Or should I just scrap the thought…

With a 3″ parallel tip section length, you could tip trim 1 to 1.5 inches from the tip. I would probably not trim more than 1″ off the tip because this is a very tip stiff shaft. That would leave you 45″ of raw shaft length. If you install the 45 inch shaft into a hybrid, you should be at around a 46 inch length. The butt end stays parallel for about 12 inches and then does not taper too much down to 20 inches. So, depending on how long you want the final paying length, you could probably trim 4 or 5 inches from the butt end, giving you a playing length of 42″ or 41″. I don’t know what final playing length you were looking for, but those lengths are in the range of some of the longer, lower lofted hybrids. The longest Callaway hybrid is 40.5″ and the longest Taylor made Hybrid is around 41.5″, for reference. So, it is doable I think, but with so many great options in hybrid specific shafts, you might not want to risk the experiment unless you already have a Bimatrx shaft laying around.
