Just want to know the mpf Rating on the Ping blueprint irons ? And when it comes to blades or cavity back blades by looking at the mpf chart it looks like ping especially the older model’s have a pretty good number for a player type irons what else comes close between the conventional and super game category for type of irons ?
I have not measred the Ping Blueprint irons for MPF yet. I do have it and will measure for MPF as soon as possible. In looking at past Ping “players” type profiles, there are a few in the Game Improvement category, but none above that. Ping, as with many others, have continued to create their “players” designs with shorter blade lengths, which hurts their MPF ratings. The fact is that only a slight increase in the blade length, along with more consistent location of the vertical and horizontal center of gravity would yield a “players” looking design that is well in the Game Improvement category or Super Game Improvement category. Not a criticism, just an observation. I am a big Ping fan, and they have had some of the most highly playable designs ever developed. It is important to understand, and I do, that when they develop the better players “blade” design, they are usually developing them for a tour player, and what they like to look at, which is usually shorter blade lengths, etc. Then, once it is developed, they introduce it to the masses, even there there are very few that should play that design or will get any benefit from that design. That is what all the manufacturers do. We believe you really don’t have to sacrifice playability for that players look, and we have done it in our designs. With regards to Ping, the 2011 Anser 6 Forged and the 2014 S55 have the highest MPF ratings of “players” designs that we have in the MPF database. Both are in the Game Improvement categories. As far as other models from other manufacturers, you can review the database by manufacturer and see what the ratings are.
