I have been only been playing for a few years. I am working hard on contact and swing mechanics. I usually score around 105ish but am improving. I really like the appearance and offset of the TS1 IM irons. With the playability factor being high, it seems like they could be okay for me. Any reason why somebody like me should not try these irons?
I have a buddy who just started golfing last year. He bought a set of TS1-IMs at some point in the middle of last year’s golf season, and he absolutely loves them. I’m not sure of the actual MPF, but with it being over 700, Maltby still calls categorizes these as “Super Game Improvement Irons.” It’s going to be a great club for you.
I was a 16-18 handicap playing shovels, Ping GMax (900+ MPF) and switched to TS1s years ago. The only thing I think I miss is a few yards when I hit off toe side badly. I actually hit the TS1s (711 MPF) better from the get go and didn’t lose distance. I think the smaller head actually helped me to better strikes as crazy as that seems. My swing is shallow. Handicap is now 9-10. I went to a local fitter/builder and saw a TS1 7 iron and tried it. First swing was butter. I’d never felt that before. The feel is addictive. Look around for one online or order one from Golfworks and try it out. Shaft will matter so know what works for you. Short answer to your question – there’s no reason not to try.
