Can I use my existing 8 iron shaft in my PW as a way to extend shaft length? And for the rest of the set?
You can put an 8 iron shaft in a PW, but the shaft will play more flexible because the PW head head weight is heavier than the 8 iron head weight the shaft was designed for. Assuming the head weight of the PW is 14 grams heavier, which in most normal sets it would be, the shaft would play approximately 3/4 of a flex more flexible.
