I’d like to make a set with my long irons 5,6,7 at one length and my scoring irons 8,9,PW at a shorter single length. Is this possible and what lengths would you recommend?
Happy to read this, I have a Taylormade M3 driver with Callaway 3 4 5 hybrids. I have Nickent 6DX 6 to wedge irons set at same length shafts by cutting the butt off the grips and sliding the grip down the shaft. Taylormade T300 W/S and a Ping Tour 54 degrees. Quite a mix but plan on change as I go along for the next 6 months, length of shaft I’m interested in trialling in conjunction with swing weight. Will post my findings…
You sure can. I cut my 4 and 5 the same length, 6 and 7 the same. 8,9,W the same. I run 2 degrees flat and the difference is negligible.
of course it takes a little figuring cutting shafts but I’ve been making my set like this for a while.
i nabbed some old Ping heads and made a set somewhat like the above for my daughter.
Sure you can. Since Golfworks doesn’t have a SL offering, I’d suggest you look at Pinhawk Vertex Dual Length irons – it is designed for something just like you describe. Not exactly the same break point, they go (3-4-5) one length and then (6-W) a different length.
Awesome I’ll check them out.
I would consider this with 5-7 one length, but 8 and up at normal progessive lengths.
I just dont see the point of making a wedge longer.
