I’d like to buy a Maltby driver, and I’m looking for the best sounding head. I’ve hit too many heads that sound like bells. It doesn’t matter what the head looks like, but I do have a preference for the ST-2. I’m playing TE forged irons at the moment which is the best iron I’ve ever played. But it’s time to choose a driver. Suggestions very welcome. Thank you.
I’ll second what Michael says about the St-1 and -2A. The ST-2 sounded similar. Our newest Driver, the STw has the the best sound, in my opinion, of the drivers we have done in the last few years. It is a more muted sound, so some may not like it, but I describe it as a solid sound, less metal sound. The only issue with the STw is that we have not received USGA approval yet. We will, but it will be late in the year. It is “legal”, we just have not sent it in yet to get their stamp of approval. The reason, believe it or not is cosmetic. We will be moving away from the graphic on the crown and until we move trough the current inventory and convert all lofts over to the new crown, it makes no sense to send it in. An changes in any partof a driver, including cosmetic, requires a new submission, so we thought we would just wait.

For what it’s worth, my KE4 ST-1 has a very good, solid sound. (They only have some of the ST-A1 in stock – https://www.golfworks.com/maltby-ke4-st-a1-driver/p/MA0227/)
I use the KE4 ST-2A as my demo drivers and they sound great to me, a nice crack off the face. I imagine the ST-2 may sound similar but I haven’t hit one. (https://www.golfworks.com/maltby-ke4-st-2a-driver/p/MA0258/)

Love all the Maltby driver heads. Still have the Tricept PFT 10* head with the ProLite 35 S shaft and I hit it great. Looking forward to the new STw. Will it be solid silver like the STw LH model? Thanks for the great designs you and your team come up with every year! Michael
